Knight Rider - Season 4
I'm currently watching the fourth and final season of Knight Rider on DVD. Its one of my favourite shows from my childhood and I still really enjoy it even today.
To jazz things up for the fourth season they invented SUPER PURSUIT MODE. What did they do to you KITT? They did exploit this mode a bit too much, in a similar way TURBO BOOST had to be used in practically every episode prior. Only two sequences were made to show the transformation (see the above clip).
And whilst I'm on the subject of Knight Rider, click here to watch the German intro. I'm pretty sure I heard the "C-word" mentioned at the start!

Mecha-Jackson!
In memory of the late Michael Jackson, may you be reborn as a Joe Pesci hating mecha!
Its great to see they had these really cool special effects back in 1988. I wonder what a live action version of Transformers would have looked like in the 80's using the same technology? I wonder if it was ever considered... "TO THE GOOGLE-MOBILE!"
...no, it wasn't considered apparently!
I was just reading that the special effects for this scene were actually made using a combination of airbrushed animation (hundreds of individual hand airbrushed frames!) and animatronic figurines. There must have been a bit of CG in it, lets not forget TRON came out 6 years before this! Nevertheless, this is still totally amazing stuff.

WTF... Facebook the movie?
Apparently David Fincher (director of Se7en and Fight Club) will be making a film inspired by the internet phenomenon Facebook, called Social Network.
This sounds really really retarded but since its David Fincher there's a chance it may be good.
Whatever next, a film about Google directed by Steven Spielberg?

Cameron shows first Avatar clips
Director James Cameron has unveiled the first glimpse of his highly anticipated new 3D film Avatar at the Cinema Expo in Amsterdam.
Film industry workers were treated to 24 minutes of footage from the movie about a battle on a distant planet.
Despite a media ban reporting on the clips shown, people at the event posted anonymously online that the footage was "jaw-dropping" and "stunning".
One Twitter user, who was at the event wrote: "This will change movies forever," while another said: "Footage from Avatar was stunning, literally jaw-dropping. Amazing visuals unlike any before seen, with incredible detail."
Filmed using a mix of CGI, motion-capture animation and live action, Avatar is Cameron's first feature film project since 1997's Titanic.
Avatar is released in cinemas in the UK and US on 18 December.

Mr. Show - Channel Six "On the Spot News"
This is what I'm watching at the moment on DVD. Mr. Show is a sketch show from the mid to late 90's written by and starring David Cross (Arrested Development) & Bob Odenkirk.
Its a HBO comedy so has plenty of controversial subjects and lots of swearing. I like to think this is what inspired the excellent Tim & Eric Awesome Show which Bob & David have also appeared in over the series.
Mr. Show has also featured some great cameo's from now famous comedy actors such as Ben Stiller, Jack Black & Sarah Silverman.

Michael Richards in new Curb!
More Curb Your Enthusiasm news here;
Michael Richards - best known for playing Kramer in the excellent Seinfeld series, is to star in the new season of Curb.
I'm not sure if he will be in one episode or throughout the new series.
I'm looking forward to Curb 7 even more now!
Here's a link to a recent Larry David article about Richards.

Larry returns for Curb: Season 7!
This is the best news I've heard all day! A 7th Season of Curb Your Enthusiasm will be "pretty, pretty, pretty good!". Jeff Garlin apparently leaked the news on his Twitter page.
On a related subject, (apparently) there's a Seinfeld reunion planned for 12 December 2012! That will be huge.

Jack Black in new Ghostbusters film?
Jack Black is desperate to star in the new Ghostbusters sequel and lobbied original star Harold Ramis when the pair worked together on new movie Year One.
After directing Black in the neanderthal comedy, Ramis is preparing to reprise his role as Dr. Egon Spengler in the third Ghostbusters film.
The veteran is also on the shortlist to direct the sequel, and Black admits he used his time with Ramis to campaign for the chance to hunt ghouls with him.
Black tells Moviefone, "Could I see myself in it? Yeah, I can bust some ghosts! I ain't (sic) afraid of no ghosts! Buster."
Ghostbusters III will star the original line-up of Ramis, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson, as well as a new batch of younger spook chasers.

uh oh... Indiana Jones 5!
Shia LaBeouf has confirmed movie bosses are planning to bring Indiana Jones back for a fifth time - a new film in the archaeologist adventurer series is in the works.
LaBeouf joined Harrison Ford in the movie franchise's fourth installment, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, last year and played the history hero's son and sidekick Mutt.
After the global success of the film, which came nearly 20 years after 1989's Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, rumours began swirling that director Steven Spielberg planned to continue the franchise without Ford - passing the lead to the young Transformers star.
And now the actor has confirmed the legendary director is working on another Indiana Jones picture - but refuses to reveal any of the details.
He says, "Steve just said that he cracked the story on it, and I think they're gearing that up."
Ford and LaBeouf have both dismissed reports that the younger star will be leading the Indiana Jones franchise in the future, even though LaBeouf recently told Playboy magazine that his movie father handed him his iconic hat as a parting gift on the set of the last film.

Stretch Armstrong Movie
Here's some totally stupid news!
Ron Howard, director of recent films such as Angels & Demons, Frost/Nixon and The Da Vinci Code has apparently signed up to make a Stretch Armstrong movie!
I predict this will be the most retarded film of 2011.
(Matthew McConaughey has nothing to do with the movie bit I think the douchebag would be perfect as the lead!)

Liam Neeson in talks for 'A-Team'
Liam Neeson is in negotiations with 20th Century Fox to star in its long-gestating bigscreen adaptation of "The A-Team" as Col. John "Hannibal" Smith.
Bradley Cooper is in early talks to play Lt. Templeton "Faceman" Peck in the Joe Carnahan-directed pic based on the 1980s TV series.
For the full story, click here.
After seeing Liam kick ass in the excellent Taken, I'm sure he'll be more than capable to play the part of the famous shape-shifting soldier of fortune.

Terminator Salvation review
I can't say I was completely disappointed with Terminator Salvation as I wasn't expecting much after the terrible reviews.
The story revolves around the protection of the young Kyle Reece (played by Anton Yelchin, Star Trek's new Chekov) who Skynet have targeted as their biggest threat ahead of John Connor (Christian Bale). With Reece out of the equation Connor would cease to exist (in a Back to the Future kind of way) and humanity would lose the war against the machines.
The film also follows the evolution of the Terminator models, from early basic robots to the more familiar T-800 Arnie design and a new prototype.
*** SPOILERS ***
This is the first time the story has been entirely set in the future so I guess they had to imagine several different types of killing machines but at times it felt they were just there to sell toys (hence the crappy poster I made) and didn't really serve a purpose.
The director McG must have been studying Michael Bay's Bumper Book of Craw as there were loads of stupid action sequences that wouldn't look out of place in any Transformers movie.
On a positive note, the special effects looked pretty awesome (especially Arnie) and the explosions were epic!
The 12 rating seemed forced onto the UK version. There were scenes that felt obviously cut, to keep the bloodshed toned down to suit a younger (and wider) audience. I think this would have been a better movie with some juicy Rambo moments.
Terminator Salvation is supposed to relaunch the franchise and be the first of a new trilogy of films set in the future. I'm sure we will see sequels, whether or not Bale will be in them is another subject but lets hope they improve on this.

*** SPOILERS ***
The new terminator model, known as Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), seems a strange choice. It's made from the remains of a death-row prisoner, with a human brain and heart encased inside a terminator body. This isn't a very wise move on Skynet's behalf since it has a human soul and wants to make good on his prior convictions. Marcus isn't under control from Skynet and when he eventually realises he's a cyborg, decides to help the human resistance. It's similar to X-Men's Wolverine in a way; "lets take this dude, make him indestructable then piss him off!"*** SPOILERS END ***
As a fellow Terminator, Marcus has free access to enter the suprisingly not-so-heavily guarded Skynet headquarters. He then helps the human resistance save Reece and also donates his human heart to save Connor's life after a good old fashioned cyborg punch up. Yes, the new Terminator's actually a pretty nice guy!

R.I.P David Carradine
David Carradine, best known for his leading role of Kwai Chang Caine on TV's Kung Fu in the 1970s, died Wednesday in Bangkok, where he was shooting a film, his manager confirmed Thursday. The star was 72.
According to manager Chuck Binder, the movie's producer went to Carradine's hotel room and found that he had passed away. Binder told Fox News the death is "shocking and sad. He was full of life, always wanting to work ... a great person."
Married five times and divorced four - he is survived by his widow, Annie Bierman, whom he married in 2004 - Carradine starred as folk singer Woody Guthrie in the 1976 Best Picture Oscar nominee Bound for Glory. Among his later screen roles was in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill, in which he played Bill.

The future of video gaming
This has gotta be one of the most groundbreaking pieces of technology available for your living room. Absolutely revolutionary! Even Steven Spielberg's interested in this (apparently he's a huge gamer!).
It kinda steals a bit of the Wii's thunder but offers so much more and without the hassle of the crappy Wii nun-chuck!
