The Ghost Busters (1975)

What's all this about, I hear you ask. Well, in 1975 there was a Saturday morning kids TV show called 'The Ghost Busters'. It was about a team of bumbling detectives who would investigate ghostly occurrences. This would later spawn a cartoon series of the same name.

Its not really related to the movies other than the title. Columbia Pictures bought the rights to the title for the 1984 Aykroyd/Ramis film and following productions.

This kinda explains why the Ghostbusters cartoon series based on the movie's was called 'The Real Ghostbusters', it had a rival show to distinguish itself from.

I've ordered the 1975 live action show on DVD so I'll post an update after I've seen a few episodes. It does look god-awful from the opening credits seen on YouTube but I'm curious to see if this had any influence over the more commonly known Ghostbusters series I know and love.

Isn't late night random Amazon shopping the greatest for finding bizarre crap stuff like this!

On a separate note, I wonder if the gorilla in the 1975 show inspired the Mighty Boosh character Bollo?
