New 'Batman' movie shooting next year
Gary Oldman told crowds at Comic-Con 2009 that the next Batman film will start shooting in 2010, scheduled for release in 2011.
"You didn't hear that from me" Oldman added.
Warner Bros have yet to comment but you can be sure it'll happen.

Avatar interviews
I'm really looking forward to watching James Cameron's new film, Avatar.
It's only a matter of time before the clip that's been shown around various expo's get's released on the internet. I can't wait to see it! If the reports are true, this will revolutionize film.
Click here to watch a video about the upcoming Avatar game from UbiSoft. Unfortunately there's no moving footage but there are a few screen shots. It looks impressive nevertheless.

Cancer delays Beastie Boys album
The Beastie Boys' album and summer tour have been postponed after band member Adam Yauch disclosed that he is suffering from cancer.
In a posting on the band's website, Yauch reveals a cancerous tumour in his left salivary gland will need surgery. He is expected to recover fully.
"I just need a little time to get this in check and then we'll release the record and play some shows," he wrote.
Hot Sauce Committee Part I was due to be released on 15 September.
The band had been due to play a number of headlining slots at festivals across the US, including the Lollapalooza event.
One of the act's last live performances was at Tennessee's Bonnaroo music festival last month.

Steven Seagal back on the big screen?
Oh wow, massive thanks to my friend Baz for pointing this out to me.
Steven Seagal may possibly return to cinemas in the 2010 Robert Rodriguez film, Machete.
Machete started its life as a fake teaser trailer at the beginning of Planet Terror (Grindhouse). Since its screening, the trailer generated a huge amount of interest amongst moviegoers, it was only a matter of time before it was adapted into a full length feature film.
The trailer starred the awesome Danny Trejo as a machete wielding tough guy on a blood-fueled trail of revenge.
Seagal has been making mediocre DTV (direct to video) films for ages now. Hopefully if the rumours are true this could mark his triumphant return to the big screen, perhaps in the same light as Mickey Rourke's recent success, and reboot his career.
Here's the article, I hope it all happens!

'Futurama' without original voices?
When “Futurama” returns to TV next year, it may be without the show’s original voice cast.
Talks have broken down between 20th Century Fox TV and stars Billy West, Katey Sagal, John DiMaggio, Maurice LaMarche and Tress MacNeille over how much they should be paid to take part in the show.
The studio announced last month that it would produce 26 new episodes of “Futurama,” with Comedy Central onboard to begin airing the new episodes in mid-2010. As part of the announcement, the show’s producers said stars including West, Sagal and DiMaggio had all signed on to return.
Turns out that wasn’t true.

The Ghost Busters (1975)
What's all this about, I hear you ask. Well, in 1975 there was a Saturday morning kids TV show called 'The Ghost Busters'. It was about a team of bumbling detectives who would investigate ghostly occurrences. This would later spawn a cartoon series of the same name.
Its not really related to the movies other than the title. Columbia Pictures bought the rights to the title for the 1984 Aykroyd/Ramis film and following productions.
This kinda explains why the Ghostbusters cartoon series based on the movie's was called 'The Real Ghostbusters', it had a rival show to distinguish itself from.
I've ordered the 1975 live action show on DVD so I'll post an update after I've seen a few episodes. It does look god-awful from the opening credits seen on YouTube but I'm curious to see if this had any influence over the more commonly known Ghostbusters series I know and love.
Isn't late night random Amazon shopping the greatest for finding bizarrecrap stuff like this!
On a separate note, I wonder if the gorilla in the 1975 show inspired the Mighty Boosh character Bollo?

Unintentionally Hilarious Work Safety Video
I've seen enough boring work safety videos in my time but this is absolutely brilliant.
The guy at 3:20 is just one finger away from having a permanent rock horn (a.k.a. Metallica Rules!). Awesome!

Ryan Reynolds to become Green Lantern
This is the news that is getting the comic nerds really excited! Ryan Reynolds will be the first actor (apparently) to star in both a DC and Marvel film to be released in the same year. The other film is Marvel's Deadpool by the way!
Reynolds, a huge comic fan, must be loving this.
